Community Service

The Community Service Committee is responsible for volunteer support, which helps nurture awareness and concern for the community within school and beyond. We focus on school-based, local community-based and global initiatives. 

Review the Community Service programs below, and if you are interested in volunteering, contact spraguepto@gmail.com or the appropriate Committee Chair

Cradles to Crayons: Collect children's new or gently used clothing, toys and books as part of the town-wide donation drive (Nov) 

 

Health and Safety: Coordinate health and safety concerns, liaison to the School Nurse and Central Council Safety Committee (as needed Sept to June) 

 

HEART Team: Plan structured activities for students to cultivate HEART (Helping, Effort, Acceptance, Respect, Teamwork) values, including the UNICEF Halloween event (TBD by Chair) 

 

Isaac’s Team: Provide support and a helping hand to the Sprague Community (as needed) 

 

Lost and Found: Organize lost and found items for return or donation (ongoing Sept to June) 

SEED Fest: Plan child-based activity fair with discovery science and environmental theme (TBD by Chair) 

SEED Team: For SEED (Sprague Energy and Environmental Defenders), organize earth friendly activities that inspire students to make a positive environmental impact and to Renew/Reuse/Recycle (TBD by Chair) 

 

Sprague Grounds Beautification: Plan, plant, and maintain gardens around the school in coordination with Building Staff (late Aug clean up, fall and spring)

 

Teacher Appreciation: Plan and coordinate volunteers for teacher luncheons (2 lunches, in Sept and June, and TBD by Chair) 

 

Wellesley Parade: Coordinate student participation in the Wellesley Parade, create and design a theme and float (May during Wellesley Weekend)
